ServLogi has announced a multi-year silicon program targeting 2030, beginning with a hardware root of trust the company specifies itself rather than inheriting from a component vendor.
The reasoning is a supply chain one. ServLogi already owns the facility, the hardware selection, the hypervisor, and the control plane. The layer it does not own is the silicon underneath, and the trust anchor at the base of that silicon is where a compromise would be hardest to detect and hardest to remediate.
The first phase covers threat modeling and root-of-trust architecture, including key storage, measured boot, and secure lifecycle state. Attestation is being designed in from the start so the measurement path is part of the original specification rather than something layered on afterward.
The company was explicit that this is a long program with no near-term product implication. Customers deploying today continue to run on AMD SEV-SNP hardware, where workload memory is encrypted by the processor with keys the hypervisor does not hold, and where each launch produces a signed measurement a customer can verify independently.
We tell customers that isolation is enforced in silicon rather than by policy. That statement is only as strong as the silicon, and right now somebody else designs it. Closing that gap is a decade of work and we would rather start it than keep describing it.
